    Malaya / Borneo Jungle Boots

I picked these up for just over a tenner a year or so ago.

A little bit (tiny in fact) of rust on the eyelet/speed lace loops but other wise totally unworn. rubber isnt bouncy but it's not stiff or perished.

Now my reason for posting is that unlike most pairs i've seen (and admittedly)i've only seen half a dozen pairs in real life before) the rubber parts are green rather than charcoal or black - in much the same was as some DMS boots have green soles.

So UK variation or perhaps Australian?

Look like very good quality compared to the Malay/Brit 50's type.

I would suggest that they have an early "Vibram" sole going by the heel shape and "V" pattern grips.
I have seen a similar pair (photo somewhere) in a West Australian Museum without the small toe cap, which were supposed to be of Private purchase approx 1957. Australians in Malaya were issued the British type Boots, or purchased local copies, and didn't have their own Aust version.

    Regards Graham.
