Looks like RAF collar insignia.
I beleive it is WW1?

Hi Guys, Terry emailed me the pic. The collar dogs are Royal Flying Corps. These are in Officers bronze as to be expected by his commisoned rank. Here is the photo again but cropped and enlarged.
