      No I'm not sure what he did for a living before the war. I got a copy of the war diary today. Based on the dates in the diary the his unit was <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->mobilised on 11/12/1915 landed in France on 19th in Harves. Would he have been entiled to the 1914/15 star?

      The diary is very detailed.. seems the boys had a tough time.. heavy rain, snow and frost.. daily/nightly bombardments.. Gas attacks. Combat patrols and work parties to repair trenchies... the germans loved to attack in the am as well. The oberservation trench was like a death sentence, the diary names kia's to sniper fire almost daily.Makes for some somber reading

        There is a chance that his VM/BWM entitlment was recorded on the separate Medal Index Card and there was one more for a single 14/15 Star. But you never know that 100% before his Star MIC or Star herself come out somewhere. He can be easily as well reinforcement who landed in France on early 1916.
