Hello all-this is my first post in the forums-joined a couple of weeks ago and will be an association member soon.
I am a new collector of third reich medals, but this is something a bit more personal.
My dad served in The Middle East :
M/T Sect
HQCoy
1st Batt Parachute Regiment
16th Ind.Parachute Brigade
1952-55
It's his birthday soon(he'll be 70) and I'm looking to get him something special to do with his service but am not sure what.
He doesn't talk much anymore about his time in the army, but I know he's very proud to have served.
One thing I always remember him telling me about is a film/documentary called 'Theirs Is The Glory' about the Arnhem drop.
If anyone has ever heard of this and know's where(or whether)it's still available I'd be really greatful.
I was also thinking of getting him some kind of wall mounted badge of some type-again,suggestions welcome.
As a last resort,I've noticed the odd para battledress on auction sites-he's got some interesting photographs of his time in the Middle East, pictured wearing his uniform and it might be nice to present him with one as a memento.
If anyone has any thoughts,I'm all ears....
Thanks for reading.
Neil
