    Army or Air Raid Helmet

I'm not really familiar with British MkII helmets. Is this an army helmet or the civilian style? I haven't paid yet but I did contact the seller:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ME:B:EOAB:US:6

I wanted a second opinion. A friend e-mailed, said the helmet looked good and I bid as I ran out the door. Now I'm having second thoughts.

    Shell and liner look good,
I would say the chinstrap is a replacement at some time,
as it looks to be the late war elasticated type.
But still looks to be a nice Soldiers tin helmet.
If you wanted to add an early war chinstrap to match it, I think WhatPriceGlory has a couple of unissued spring type chinstraps for sale.

    All the best

Military type, rather than Civillian type.

Looks like a post war repaint and reissue .Personally speaking here ,I would not buy a Tommy helmet with elastcated strap like that one ,unless it was on the later style of helmet.Still $20 is a cheap as chips .The date on the liner will be found on one of the liners black cross straps .The date on the lid and makers code will be found near the chinstrap holder ,Rob

                Hello Peter,

Liner appears to be post war Belgian due to the brown cross straps. It is the first time I've seen a broad arrow mark on the elastic bumper pad. Don't know on that part.

I think a post war reissue.

                Best regards.

                Jim
