Grouping

The ID mentioned in the nominal role doesn't match to the engraved one inside the French compass picked up at Pourville...
...however all Id begining by "H19 or 20 or 21 are from the QOCH...so, error from the nominal role (i don't think so) or or is it someone else?
I tried but I could not find anything matching with single ID H21047...if someone could find something with that ID, it helps me a lot and would be much appreciated

F.J "Jim" CHAMPLIN - RCAF 114th Sqd / DIEPPE 19/08/1942

A 4 pockets service tunic used at the Dieppe raid era by this American pilot enlisted in RCAF the 22nd jan 1942, flew over Dieppe with the 414th Sqd the 19th of august 1942 on one of the 3 MustangP-51 MKI, discharded 8th of november 1942...& re enlisted in USAF the 9th!

Amazing course of that man! Enlisted in39, battle of France in 40 (Ligne Maginot/luxembourg), Russia in 41/42, Atlantic Wall defense early 42...present at Dieppe for the Raid the 19/08/42! Tunisia end 42/43, Germany 44...

Special thanks to Thierry who found the missing link with my own Dieppe-related document.

I purchased it as a generic Canadian paybook before realizing what I had...

Thanks to Thierry's research, I was quickly able to find information on the soldier's unit (Queen'sOwn Cameron Highlanders of Canada) during the attach:

"Of 503 Camerons on the raid, 346 were casualties: 60 killed in action; 8 died of wounds after evacuation; 167 prisoners of war (8 of whom died of wounds). Of the 268 returning to England, 103 were wounded"

...and now the depressing half of the story...I originally purchased this generic soldbuch from Canada (which led me to the Canadian paybook and other documents) however at the time I didnt really appreciate the significance and sold it because i was a student on a budet... this is probably the only military item I've ever regretted selling.

As you'll see it was in terrible shape and taped up the wazoo (but the soldier in question was a member of the 571st Infantry Division that the Highlanders came in contact with at Dieppe and is identified as being enterred in a local cememtary. As you can imagine then, there was a direct link from the Canadian soldier picking up the soldbuch off the KIA soldier during the chaos of the battle.

I had a link to the soldier's information page at a local cemetary in the Dieppe area, but have lost that over time . If anyone can help it would be appreciated!

Gefreiter KIA * 2 Sep 1920 + 19 Aug 1942 France, now War Cemetery Champigny - St. Andre / France. Row 16, Grave no 1687.
