    Indiamedal, 1939star, Italystar

    Hi,
I collect german medals and dont know anything about this stuff.
What do you say about this 3 awards and the ribbons? Are the real or postwar copies?

Can't comment on the two Stars but I would think that the India Medal isn't popular enough among collectors to warrant reproductions or fakes in Europe, UK, North America, though I know that in India tailors copies are made of many many medals including most of the post 1947 ones.

OTOH, I haven't collected medals for some time, so I may be out of date with my opinions - I've been astonished at some of the stuff people are apparently faking out there. I'd say that the source of the medals - provenance - would be the most significant factor. From an older collection or vet I'd grab them if I were still buying, from ebay or a car boot dealer I'd be less quick. A reputable dealer isn't likely, IMHO, to fake such - the profit wouldn't justify the risk to his reputation if caught. A bit of a crap shoot, I'm afraid!

      Thanks for your input Peter.
Like i said i collect german awards so I'm paranoid when i comes to bying on ebay and other sites like that due to the enormous amount of fakes that are out there.

English medals are not faked as much but im pretty sure that even the cheapest british medals are being faked. If they can sell it, they will fake it.

So unless someone gives me a on them i wont buy them.
      Thanks again.

Hi mate, The medals are fine and all look 100% original to me, so not a problem there the only problem is the 1939-45 star has the wrong ribbon on it.

Heres some original medals of mine for comparison, you will also see what the 39-45 star ribbon looks like. Dont be put off buying the medals over the ribbon though, as they are cheap and its still pretty easy to find original ribbons on ebay.uk

              G'day Peter,

The medals you posted are good ones mate. What price is being asked for the medals? As these are very common and easy to get.

I dont know the price yet but i know the theese stars are cheap so im thinking like 25 - 30 euros each maybe.
The star i really want is the aircrew star but that costs a little bit more. The 1939–1945 Star with a battle of Britain clasp is also high on my wishlist.

In my opinion 25-30 Euro each is way too dear, anything over the equivilent of about $60us for the lot is too much. The 1939-45 stars are really common and worth about $15 the India service medal is worth about about $20 give or take and the Italy star is worth $25. Theres no need to get ripped off when you can just as easily buy them on ebay.uk for a lot less.
But at the end of the day I suppose its up to you mate.

                  Happy collecting
                  Luke.
