    Regimental merit medal

I've always thought these regimental merit medals were the first medals given for service and good conduct to ORs/NCOs before the LS&GC medals were developed. This one is for the 23rd Light Dragoons either for service in Egypt or commerating the regiment's service in Egypt (I'm only guessing on this ). It is named in a lovely engraved script on the rim. I've never seen much reference on them and would appreciate any thoughts i.e. ribbon color, type of suspension, etc. Does anyone know of any articles written in the old OMRS Journals on these type of medals?
    Thanks,
    Garth

Hi Garth. I love these, although I don't have any. I shall have a look in Tancred and see if its mentioned. A very short-lived regiment (1794-1802).
