That commando BD is great Im glad your mate went with that one and not the Para one, I dont want to ruffle any feathers but there is somthing that bothers me with that para BD, although all the insignia looks real, I dont have my colour patch reference on hand to know exactly which HQ patch that is but I have a rough idea, I would like to know how could someone from one of the infantry brigade HQs of the 8th division, join the 1st para battalion when they were captured at Singapore? It could well be 100% legit but it seems a bit strange to me

Thanks for posting the pics mate! Its not every day you get to see a nice attributed commando lot, I love the beret too I have one the exact same.

This one arrived today, seller stated it was Australian and it has features that make that seem likely to be correct. It has large buttons for the shoulder straps and all the other buttons are of the dished metal type. An early date, 1941, so probably supplied to the UK. It has a faint Broadarrow stamp.

      Regards,

      Jerry

I believe the blokes in the photo of the Aussie Bren Carrier, could be from the 2nd 6th Cavalry Commando's. They had carriers in North Africa, were the first ones into Tobruk when it fell. It's possible they were wearing battle dress, being commando's?. We had no tank regiments in North Africa.
              Regards Bruce
