I have two WW1 Recruiting posters, one in need of TLC. The first one is undated for the Navy "Remember England Expects". The size is 50" x 40". At some stage it has been selotaped (not by me) and in time has slipped and torn in several places. The paper itself is very brittle and the slightest movement causes an immediate tear. Just wonder if it is worthwhile trying to have it stabalised and restored? The other is for the Army "Boys come over here your'e wanted" and dated June 1915. This one is 40" x 50" and in quite reasonable condition also not as brittle as the Navy one. Do these posters have much value and are they worthwhile trying to preserve? Regards, Clive.

Stabilizing and conserving paper is a highly specialized and therefore expensive process. There are likely to be companies who do it - mainly for museums and galleries - near where you live, so it might be worth contacting one to get an idea of what they might be able to do and what it will cost you.
Sadly, the likeliest answer is that the cost would be many times the [monetary] value of the posters.
