1944 airborne baret (opinions wanted )

what do you gents think of this airborne baret?

i think its the real deal ,the leather head band has however completly dried out and has crumbled because of this.

the seller has had this baret in his collection for 15 years.

the capbadge is one with a slider, so presumably not correct

pics: ( taken with flash, so color may vary)

It is fine but obviously not the best example. If the price is right and you like it, buy it

If the price is right, you might want to sell it in the future.

          Possible suggestion

If the leather is really bad and falling apart, you could always restore the beret by using a black piece of ribbon like that used on Glengarries to bind over the old leather and the tie. THis was actually done during the war. I am sure any traditional scottish tailor or shop could get you a strip of that ribbon. Anyway just a suggestion. It would probably display ok then.
