Looking for Ration Pack MK IV Air Force button escape compass

    HI Guys

I am trying to locate an example of the British Ration Pack MK IV. This was a ration/escape kit sealed in a case that could be used for a water bottle. It also had a built in compass.

I am also looking for a RAF button compass. The compass within the actual tunic button.

If anyone has examples I'd love to hear from you. You can reach me at
    mrandc@rogers.com

Actually it might be an interesting thread to start, displaying various escape kits!

    Regards

    Ken Joyce

Hi Ken, I started a thread a few years back "M.I.9. Escape & Evasion" if I type it right this is the link http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=255067 You will find examples of what you are looking for there. Kind regards, Clive.

      Escapee

      Hi Clive

Thanks I checked it out and some really interesting stuff. It is a shame because a friend of mine picked up a lot from the widow of an American from New York who flew in a Canadian Spitfire Squadron during the war. Of the 12 buttons he had loose, 6 were compasses. However Steve just sold all that off just before I got this request for one.

If you have an example you can part with OR know where I might find these for sale, would appreciate it. Have you seen a RAF MK IV Ration kit?

      Thanks

      Ken

Bad luck Ken about the compasses, 6 in one go would have been amazing, also highly valuable. Unfortunately I do not have any spares at this time, occasionally they appear on auction websites, also have seen a few at Arms Fairs. Just be cautious as they have been faked-copied. Not sure what the RAF Mk IV Ration Pack looks like, have not got my reference books to hand. Good luck in your searches, you are bound to succeed sooner or later. Kind regards, Clive.
