    Australian, good jacket WWII ?

Hello, I have just received this Australian jacket, but I have big doubts on this one. Why does not she have labels with manufacturer and does date how normal? Buttons are them good and gone up by origin, in view(sight) of the color of the thread and the way they were gone(taken) up I think that they were gone back up(raised). Is she good Australian ww2 or after war? Reassembly or not?

Thank you in advance for your answers/Merci d’avance pour vos réponses.

    It looks good to me.

A lot of these were sold surplus in the past with the buttons cut off. This will account for the resewn and slightly mismatched buttons.

These are starting to get very hard to find, these days.

Is the second last photo an ink stamp?

The sewn card label showing size is quite common and a good sign that this was one of the unissued ones sold with the buttons cut off. It should have a manufacturer labe and also a name label but it could be missing.

All up it is very good. You'll need to get some rising sun collar badges. Also some Australia titles if you want to depict an AIF soldier.

      Looks ok to me also.

It is the earlier WW2 version with the "false belt".
      More sought after this type.

      Very similar to WW1.

      Still quiet available in Australia.
I picked up one exactly like yours last week also unissued with paper tag, but had a label dated 1942.

Original buttons and badges come up all the time on Australian E Bay, and re-pro are also available.

      Cheers!

I agree. No problem, a good WW2 period tunic for sure, with most likely replacement buttons based on the stitching.
I read somewhere that a large batch of these surfaced somewhere in Australia (all or most 1942 dated) and all in mint unissued condition, no insignia...

Here's mine, also in mint condition with original buttons. Per the previous owner (a WAF member also) its most likely also restored by somebody
as its fully badged to represent an engineer NCO in the AIF (including overseas service stripes) , but still in factory fresh unissued condition.

I agree that these are hard to find, especially outside of Australia, so badging up an unissued one is better than nothing.
They' re still original and the components are original...just never saw service so these survived in immaculate condition...
The inside tag has no soldier information listed. (blank line) No wear whatsoever! Yours appears to be similar!

Inside look of mine + period image!

              Rough idea on price

Here is an Early type just sold on E Bay for $268.

              Something to go by anyway,

              Regards Graham.
