Hi everyone,
I picked up this mint tunic quite some time ago, and I really wonder to what nation and era it belongs. It has Bundeswehr-style Assmann extra fein buttons, but I’m pretty sure they were added later since the cut of the tunic is definately not german and it’s had an english label on the inside. I think it’s British, perhaps colonial? Due to it’s perfect condition it doesn’t look very old but on the other hand I can’t imagine that this tunic style is stil worn, especially because of the stand-up collar. Opinions are very welcome!

It's a British Royal Marines tunic.
The vacab. number is tipical for the Navy.Comment

This style tunic was phased out in 1942 so worn through early ww2,
but if that maker shut its doors in 1933 its from before that date.

1, The lable in this is post WWI as its a cloth sewn on example which came into being in the MID 1920's as lables prior to this were paper and gluded to the tunics and other clothing items. With this there is a WD INK date stamp (W ARROW D WITHA LETTER AND NUMBERS ABOVE OR BELOW ) This apllies to all ARMY and RAF ITEMS the RN had a anchor with or with out a crown exceptance mark with a number below this and was not genrally applied to uniform items ( an example of this can be seen on my web site BRITTON AT WAR ITEM NUMBER 53788 PHOTO 7 )
2, This is a Royal Marines tropical parade jacket pre 1933 ( as stated ) and should have the Royal Marines other ranks brass buttons on it.
3 This style was phased out prior to WWII and a 4 pocket version was introduced of which versions are still used to day .
