    Like waiting for a bus...

Then 3 come along at once!

We have been after one of these badges for the past few years. The first one we missed three years ago as we waited to bid upon it on "Speedbid" and the PC froze Sold for £29. Then last year one came up on E Bay and it sold for over £65 Crazy money!

Last week we finally managed to buy one. It turns out the seller had three. We got ours for a very reasonable £18, in with a lot of other old badges and masonic medals.

    What is it you ask?

It was a badge given for fund raising towards the Duchess of Northumberlands ATS Comforts Fund. The Duchess's Comforts fund was used to provide extras like books, radio's, decoration for barracks rooms, sports gear, etc, to make life nicer for ATS girls in barracks.

    Cheers, Ade.

Reverse of the badge. All appear to be made by this one maker.

I'm surprised that Thomas Fattonini wasn't banged up on the Isle of man! Maybe his badge-making skills exempted him from the fate of 5000 ice cream sellers. Anyhow, nice - and unusual badge. Ade, you should've snapped all three up: kept one, and eBanned the living daylights out of the remaining two for beeg bucks senor!

Hi Tony, it did indeed cross our minds But the second one made £27 so we decided to leave it.

In a book we have a photo of an ATS barracks decorated using money from the Comforts fund. Searched for it yesterday to add to this post, but can we find it

        Cheers, Ade.

Very nice Ade! Is that the listing with 3 different badges or a new one alltogether? I tell you folks, seeing Lez's collection in person really makes you apreciate the quality of ATS stuff!
          Best, Sal
