Unknown ribbon on a RAMC captain jacket

    Bonjour,

I found this WWII veteran RAMC captain. Not really in british medals, I can't identify the second medal on the second row between the War Medal 1939–1945 and the efficiency medal.

    Thank you for your help

    Cheers

    Valery

Typically [correct me if wrong, Tony] each regiment or corps was given a number of Coronation, Jubilee and other 'royal' medals. These were distributed among the serving members, some to officers, some to NCOs and some to Other Ranks. I know that in some cases this was done by lottery within each rank group and sometimes, I think, by the CO of the unit.

So you're man may have 'earned' it, so to speak by being in London for the Coronation or just been lucky! Either way, a nice edition to any medal group.
