    A Gift from the Colonies.

Hi Guys, I thought I would share this tin with you. While I am not really a WW1 collector as such, I do like ration and gift tins and I collect these.

    Cheers, Ade.

The reverse has a nice "Art Nouveau" design. The makers, from Mansfield in Nottinhamshire continued to make tins in WW2.

I wish there was It dates from Christmas 1915.

But I do have some full, un-opened, WW2 rations tins. I will do a thread on these

Here are a few more tins, this time WW2 in date, from the Union of South Africa. They are from Christmas 1941, Christmas 1943 and New Year 1945. The contents were cigarretts.

Bringing this thread back up as a new member asked about ration items etc.

Here is the 1940 South African Xmas gift tin.

Much larger than the versions issued in later years, the 1940 tin held small cigars.
