    Help with Canadian (?) Patch

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me what this is? I was told it could possibly be Canadian. Any help would be great. THANKS!

Definitely NOT Canadian. At least, not Cdn military. The style is completely wrong, especially the edging, and the colours look too bright even for our full dress stuff. [Yep, I'm a Canuck].

The crown the lion emerges from is called a "mural crown" and in classic heraldry indicates the arms of a city or town. It looks to me like an inexpensive badge put together for a private group with limited means. Perhaps a club or youth group of some sort?

You might find it if you google "out of a mural crown a demi lion rampant" and look through the images that come up. Good luck!

One of my old outfits. 101 Squadron, RAF. It's a squadron patch for the growbags and overalls.

It's not a crown, rather a turret. 101 were the first unit to operate the Boulton Paul Overstrand - a twin-engined biplane bomber in the '30s, that itself was the first to utilise a power operated turret. The badge reflects this. 101 are now a tanker squadron with the venerable VC10, which is due for retirement very soon. When it goes then so will the squadron - forever in all likelihood.
