Is this Flight Suit WW2 issue?

There are no labels but the zips hold a clue. They are marked Made in England on one side with the word DOT in the centre.

The reverse of the zip has a crown with the letters A and M either side. A couple of the zips in addition have NB Ltd stamped below the crown.

The crown looks to be a Queen's Crown though?

    Many Thanks,
    Bob.

Hello Bob, certainly is and looks like an early one. Don't worry about the Queen's crown style crown, that's quite common. I can't quite make it out from the picture of the complete suit, but if the leg pockets are fur lined it's the 1930 pattern "Sidcot" suit. Nice because they were used right through the Battle of Britain which gives them a special interest. The later 1941 pattern suit had poppers on the sleeve to attach the heated gloves and the pockets were not fur lined. Either way, it's wartime. Regards, Simon.

          Many thanks, Simon

There are no snaps or attachments to the sleeves nor any fur lining to the pockets.

I paid £30 for it on the off-chance so maybe I have a bargain?

It has similarities with the LW Fliegerkombi 'salt and pepper' variety.

          Here's a few more pics.

I agree its a Sidcot flying suit. A lot of these have a detachable fur collar. It looks like a nice one. You certainly did well!

Thanks. And perhaps I have a version that's beween the two? No fur lined pockets and yet no electrical studs.

                Best Regards,
                Bob.

                  1940 Sidcot

Looks like a 1940 pattern sidcot, the 1930 pattern was of a more rubberized material and indeed did have fur lined pockets. The 1940 version was a lighter version and was worn alongside the 1941 pattern which was fitted with electrical wiring, which in turn heated the gloves and boots. This was designed to be worn over the type D, F, G, H heated clothing, either a waistcoat or full body suit.
