    British pith helmet,

Recently picked up this helmet and cover.
It is a British pith helmet with ribbon attached to the purgree which I have been told is to the Welsh Regiment, the unusual thing that came with the helmet was a draw string cover which is WD marked.
The helmet manufacture is LINNEY OF LONDON and does not have a date stamp, regarding the chinstrap it does look more like an Officers example.
Does anyone have any idea when this helmet was made and issued.

    Many thanks, Gareth

        Hi Gareth!

If my eyes don't fail me, I think that I can see an "O" above the WD marks of the cover. "O" is associated with 1942.

The helmet may also be dated, it is possible that you 'll find a WD mark on the inside of the headband.

This is where to look at and how it should look like (6th photo): http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=wolseley

Looks like an OR's pith -cloth edging trim- with a private purchase/officers leather chinstrap. I read somewhere that the silver foil lining was only used during 1941/3.

Good pith and great to see the cover
