Biggest ww1 group I have ever had

Yet another recent buy, direct from the vets son.

To clear up any confusion the medal pair are to :

    Name: John Curwen
    Birth Place: Whitehaven, Cumberland
    Death Date: 9 Mar 1917
    Death Location: France & Flanders
    Enlistment Location: Seaham Harbour, Durham
    Rank: DVR.
Regiment: Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery
    Number: 21410
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Western European Theatre

The guy has his death plaque some where and will hopefully have it when I visit him next weekend.

Everything else you see bar a few of the cap badges are to 760785 D. Curwen RFA, hopefully his medals will have been dug out by next weekend aswell.

This is the biggest ww1 group I have had. The dress trousers are unbelievably mint, still with the 1916 tailor tab on!.

    D. Curwen was a life long miner. He came home on the sunday put his unifrom and items in a box and went back to the mine on the Monday. He did all in all 51 years in the mine!

There is in a little Iodine Ampule! There are also over 50 letters and some pictures but a little diffiuclt to post pictures of!

    Hope you enjoy the pictures!

                      Very comprehensive Adam!

Was the metal cap badge secured to the cap with some stitching at one point?

                        Exellent set!

I am a bit confused though. The father was KIA in 1917 and the son was in WW2 and worked in a mine if I understand correctly?
If the owner was KIA, why is what looks like a combat uniform in possession of the son?

                        JL

                          Hi Jack,

                          Thanks mate,

Not that I can see it just looks like a loose stich. I hope he has found the death plaque!

                          Cheers Adam

                            Hi JL,

The guy I bought it from was a ww2 vet.

The uniform and everything else was his fathers who went on to work in the mines.

The two medals are to the ww2 vets uncle who was killed.

                            Best Regards Adam
