    WW2 Manitoba Dragoons Battledress

    Hey guys,

Just picked up this WW2 Manitoba Dragoons Battledress. It is dated 1943. The Battledress has a nice field repair on the neck where the top button is and has some wear, but to me it makes it look like it's been there. This definately wasn't a coming home BD. There are two are three minor moth nips here and there, but nothing serious.. Don't know what I am going to do with it yet cuz I like it so much, but thought I would put it up to share with everyone. It also came with a nice sidecap.

    Ritchie.

Very nice BD! He was a good boy too. Don't see very many with a good conduct stripe.

Looks good - definitely not a "coming home" BD as you said!

Very nice BD. I have a similar one. Mine has canvas flashes as opposed to the cloth ones and it is also a 100% field used BD. I can and will post pictures when I get home.

                Cheers,
                Greg

Very nice bd indeed! This unit was part of the Canadian Forces that liberated the Belgian seaside resorts (which is where I live). So if you ever want to get rid off it, I would certainly be interested!

hey guys, thanks for all the comments.

Stringbag: where do you live in Belgium? when I was living in London I would take the ferry over and stop in Vuerne and Ostend on the way to Bruges or for some nice beer at Westvleteren! But would genuinely love to know more about where these guys fought during the NWE campaign.

                      Ritchie.

                        Hello Ritchie,

I actually live in Ostend and a couple of years ago, I received a medal group of a Belgian resistance fighter, who liaised with the Manitoba Dragoons at the time of the liberation of Zeebrugge and Knokke. I have the unit history of this regiment and he was give a cap badge, shoulder title and divisional sign by the members of the Manitoba Dragoons.
