    Equipment ID needed

Hi Guys, I have posted this item once before in the old International forum, but it got no replies; so I thought it would try it again here, now that we have our own British forum.

The bag is made from a rubberised canvas and is about the size of a 1937 pattern "small pack". It has a Civil Defence look about it to me? It was given to me last year by a friend of mine, Sgt. Don Turner ex XXI Indep. Para. Coy.

Don never served in the Civil Defence forces being a pre war regular soldier. He cannot remember when and where he came by or was issued with the bag.

    Cheers, Ade.

Here is the makers mark and date to the inside flap of the bag.

It looks a lot like a WWII US gasmask bag. What's the size?

Hi Tom, I don't have the bag to hand, but it is about the same size as a US M1936 Musette bag.

The more I look at it, the more I feel it is a Civil Defence issue item?

        Cheers, Ade.

Ade, in the past I have had something very similar. I cannot guarantee it was the same but I can tell you it was full of first aid dressings/bandages and other medical items. I would imagine the rubberised canvas would be to give it the waterproof qualities it needed - I know i certainly wouldn't want a wet bandage.

I'm thinking along the lines of First Aid Party?

          Thanks from Jack.

Thanks Jack. I think that might be a possibility? The overall look and feel to the item, construction wise being simply made, leads me to a CD useage.

            Cheers, Ade.
