    East Surrey Regiment Visor cap

This came in today with a bunch of ordnance. I'm guessing it's WW1 since that's what the ordnance is.

I don't collect British stuff so I don't know anything about this. Hoping someone might give me some information.

Would this have been an enlisted cap or one worn by an officer?

Any comments are welcome. Thanx in advance.

The large rounded peak suggests to me that it is a mid to late WW1 (& Post war up to 1923) officers cap.
Ordinary ranks WW1 caps usually have a smaller peak with a green leather underside. Officers caps usually have a cloth underside to the peak, but did use green undersides on soft caps.
So I guess a photo of the caps inside is needed.

Looks like an officer's late WWI cap to me. Material is quality cavalry twill type, with an officer's bronze service cap badge. Interior photos would likely confirm.
Other ranks caps were made of a rough grade of wool.

Please excuse its condition. It's been sitting on top of 100 pounds of grenades & other ordnance since after the war in a garden shack in Vermont.

If the badge is on lugs or blades then it is an Officers.

                Two rather sharp blades.
