RAF Aircraft Heater ?

Picked this up from the local carboot yesterday, body is all brass construction, label on top read Aladdin Condenser Heater Aircraft Type (see picture), has anybody seen one of these before, or pictures of one in an aircraft ?

For various reasons I don't think it was used in an aircraft, and is most likely for external use.
Possibly used for heating an aircraft engine in extream cold conditions?
