Arnhem POW Beret grouping 2nd battalion Parachute Regiment

I would like to show you guys this little grouping. This is my first purchase directly from a veterans son and i am delighted, he still has his fathers medals and qualification wings, i tried to buy them to keep them all together but he wants to keep them so i respect his wishes. He served with the 2nd Battalion Parachute regiment were he served in North Africa then he dropped into Arnhem on the 17th were he got captured on the 24th and was transferred to Stalag IVB. There is lots of letters Paybooks which will be posted up later. The beret is that worn the date has gone but the WD mark is visible but not the letter but looking very closely it is either a M or N (i may try the spray test). Also look at the Para badge the lion has bent round to the back side of the badge and it has been backed with an old matchstick and paper. The paper looks like it has writing on but it looks to have been never apart so i am leaving it as is. Hope you like it as much as i do.

                  Hi Johan,

It hasn't yet taken a visit to the freezer. I had a look over it and it maybe the residue from were the larvae has been and gone and it has been there forever since i have owned it, The white spots on the beret came off with a light hoover but to be on the safe side it will be going in the freezer

                  Regards

                  Stuart
