    Midget metafilter?

Can anyone help with this one . It is a stirrup pump type filter system used for purifying water. This is all the information I have got as it is stamped on a brass plate on the side. It is typically painted in service brown colour and the bag is in jungle green canvas. Any ideas

        Ensuring Pure Water
In the event of widespread damage to essential services, one of the perils to be borne in mind is that of a contaminated water supply. The appliances of the Metafiltration Company Ltd, of Hounslow, therefore deserve close attention, the Metafilters of this firm being of exclusive and highly efficient design. They have been tested both by the Royal Army Medical College and by the Counties Public Health Laboratories, and are used by many important industrial undertakings throughout the world.
The Metafilter supplied for domestic use is exceptionally simple in principle and operation, without fragile or easily broken parts. Moreover it works so quickly that there is no need for a storage tank into which the water must fall drop by drop; a glass may be held under the spout and filled as quickly as from an ordinary household tap.
The unfiltered water may be full or organisms and black with mud. But after passing through the Metafilter it is sparkling and crystal clear – not only fit but delightful to drink. One filter bed may last for many weeks the necessity for renewal being indicated when the output of filtered water becomes abnormally small. Perfect water however, is always delivered, and the bed renewals costing only a few pence, can be poured into the filter by a child.
In times of emergency it is desirable to be independent if possible of the electric mains supply. Particularly is this the case as regards radio, upon which we shall be so dependent for warnings and news if we are ever subjected to air raids. A fully dependable battery driven radio receiver is therefore of the highest importance for use in shelters or refuge points and the Marconiphone Company has several models eminently suitable for this purpose. One particularly handy portable set possessing all the qualities associated with Marconiphone is priced at £8 8s.

          Great info Ian.

The float kept the sucker off the muddy bottom. (obviously)
There is a modern version that filters out saltwater to fresh for sea survival craft.

          Ummm, freshly squeezed water, yummy.
