Hi guys, I got this holster not long ago...I has come from the estate of a squadron leader .....now I find it interesting for a couple of reasons......It has no loops for attaching it to a belt (or anything for that matter) and also it looks very much like it has a had a luger in it from the stretches of the leather Any ideas on how he would have used this ? I mean not being able to hang it from anything greatly restricts the uses of a holster 
It is without doubt homemade but I believe it to be period for a couple of reasons....firstly if he made it simply to store the pistol after the war AI am sure there would have been a top flap to it ....the fact it is missing makes me wonder if it was designed this way for 'quick ' access ?
What do you think ? any ideas out there ?

I had thought of maybe putting it down a boot.....I tried it on my manequin but it simply didnt fit......a pistol would snuggle in there barrel first (just) but with the holster there is no chance....the survival kit idea is a good one that I hadnt thought of ..... but the thing that steers me away from that is the way it is so open allowing easy access within the trigger guard without having to completely withdraw the pistol.... 
.... I also tried to lodge it in the parachute harness on my manequin but I can find no way for it to be secure and not fall out in the event of having to jump out of a plane....im still stumped
