    1888 pattern Slade Wallace Belt and Bayonet Frog

    Guys,what do you think of this 1888 pattern Slade Wallace white buff leather belt and bayonet frog?Period made,later (post WW1) made or copies,cheers for your help,

          For what it's worth - not much! - the rivets look like those on the only ones I've ever seen from the 19th century. Obviously doesn't rule out later manufacture but perhaps eliminates modern copies, as if I were re-doing these for re-enacting or a unit's historical section I'd skip the rivets and double-stitch it instead. A minor thought and not worth much!

            Belt looks good and original. The frog looks a little newer to my eyes, but it may be fine as well.

              The frog is the same as that used on ceremonial occasions for the SLR bayonet also comes in white or black plastic.

                Normally the copies get the leather wrong ... the 1888 pattern items are of a really thick tough leather ..

                  Thanks very much for the comments guys.Marc,I've never seen an SLR bayonet frog like this before, particularly with a strap and buckle,any pics?cheers,

                    It's not an SLR frog per se, it's just that the SLR bayonets fitted them so they continued to be used up until the SA80's introduction. Predominantly by the Guards on Public Duties. There is a proper SLR bayonet frog in white plastic but they look gash.
