Royal Navy medal and document grouping

    Hello,

This was the second grouping I have bought, along with the grouping of Staff-Sergeant Colin G. Kirby, which is also shown on the British subforum.

    Name: Eric Ernest Pilkington.
Place of birth: Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire.
    Rank: Petty Officer/Chief Stoker.

    Awards:

    - Silver a/s - m/s badge.
    - Defence Medal.
    - War Medal.
    - Italy Star.
    - 1939-45 Star.
    - Atlantic Star.
    - France and Germany Star. (Clasp on the Atlantic Star)
    - Good Conduct Badge/Medal 1st Class.
    - War Chevron. (What is this?)

If there is any interrest, I shall post more documents including a list of all the vessels he served on.

    With kind regards,

    Koen.

Nice Documents, it´s always good to have more than just the medals, the pictures and documents are giving the "face" to the grouping!

It's very odd to see a sailor with an additional (white) scarf. Does anybody knows if this means something special? Unofficial award or some navy custom?

It seems to me that they are repairing (or is it prepairing?) a floating target for targetshooting. It you hit the black canvas, the point of entry will show up against the light horizon.
