    Camo mark2 helmet

    Hi all,

One of my mark2 helmet bougt more than 15 years ago. It was found in a barn near Caen but I don't think it was left there in 1944, but maybe in 1940.
It has a first pattern liner made in 1939 by J. Compton and Sons, there is no mark on the shell, just a name : "Rowthorn".
The camo is very similar to the germans ones more than the usual british. I think it is more possible to have been use by the BEF in 1940.
    Here is the picture :

Thanks for watching, any comments welcome !

    Very interesting

Greetings: I have a helmet very similar in camo scheme that has been painted over a net. I hope you don't mind if I post a picture of mine on your thread for comparison.
    Best Regards

Greetings Ben: Thank you for the posting space.I don't have much history on this lid except I purchased this helmet about 12 years ago off ebay, and I'm sure it also came from Europe.

Hi, The helmet & the liner go together well. The liner is dated 39, the helmet will be dated 38, or 39. The date should be on the helmet chin strap lugs. Aaron.

              Hi !

That's amazing, I have it for more than 15 years and I never noticed the date, it is hardly visible on the picture above but I can clearly see (on the left side of the chin strap lugs) :

              II
              ?93?
So yes it is 1938 or 1939 for sure !

              Cheers

              Ben

                Nice helmets folks.

My camo MKII is very similar to Ben421 one.
It also coming from France 15 years ago. No story behind it.
                1940 dated shell and liner.

                Phil
