One of my mark2 helmet bougt more than 15 years ago. It was found in a barn near Caen but I don't think it was left there in 1944, but maybe in 1940.
It has a first pattern liner made in 1939 by J. Compton and Sons, there is no mark on the shell, just a name : "Rowthorn".
The camo is very similar to the germans ones more than the usual british. I think it is more possible to have been use by the BEF in 1940.
