    British boots 1943, snowboots?

These boots were listed on eBay last week, but I was to late to place a bid.... they sold for only GBP 6.49 !!!

Anyway, does anybody now the exact name and use of these boots???
I suppose they are snowboots but I can't find any reference on them.

(Luckely for me I got a simmular pair in my own collection, but I still don't know exactly what they are )

With help from "LSR" I've found back this picture of the Lincoln&Welland patrol during the winter of 1944/1945 in the southern parts of the Netherlands.
Four soldiers are posing for a portrait after returning from a patrol. Two soldiers are wearing the "mukluk" boots. Also note the inflatable lifevests, as the snowcovered ice in the area wasn't reliable to carry a mans weight.

Additional info on the Mukluk on wikipedia :

    Additional info is welcome !!
