Help with decal on Mk2 helmet

Can someone help me with this helmet? The helmet has a flash on the front, maybe navy? And what does the white A mean?

Thanks for all the help and info.

looks very similar to the patch of the Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train, 1916 - 1917

Also the same was used by the Water Transport Units, RAE, 1942-1945

              Helmet

Just had a quick look in my copy of 'Formation Badges of WWII pg 105. There is reference to a similar badge to yours. Red fouled anchor on a dark blue background. Book description says.... Orkney and Shetland defences. The military garrison of the Orkneys and Shetland, known as 'Osdef" was composed mainly of Anti Aircraft and Coastal defence Gunners and Infantry and adopted as its badge the Naval foulded Anchor in red on a dark blue background denoting its close association with the naval base at Scap Flow...
The white 'A' may stand for Artilley? Good luck Roy
