    Help with British/Canadian Helmet

    Gentlemen,
I'm not exactly sure what I have here...
This helmet was found with a few other helmets that came back with a veteran of the 42nd Infantry. The only markings I see are on the chinstrap... looks like a 7 1/4. I have not seen a liner quite like this. Unfortunately, the liner is extremely dry and delicate so I dare not try and remove it.

Any thoughts what be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm not an expert on ww1 helmets, but that's what I think you have. No doubt there are a lot of experts here who will tell you for sure. Aaron.

There should be markings on the interior rim / visor of the helmet.
Please, have a look and let us know.

                Thanks for the comments...
There are markings on the rim that appear to be an HV
over a line with 2t6 underneath.

                Many Thanks

HV is the marking of manufacturer and steel supplier's initials William Hutton & sons from Sheffield and Vickers Ltd. from Sheffield too.
The code nrs. would be for the batch of steel the helmet was made from.
No idea if this helmet was used by Canadians, but it is British manufacture for sure. Britain sold big amounts of them to Canada.
                  Hope this helps.
                  Regards
