    Irish Guards Officer pips question

    Hello Gents

What kind of rank pips did officers from the Irish Gaurds use? Especially the officers from the armoured crews. Is there a difference between armoured an infantery officers pips?

Does somebody has an example? I'm looking for 4 pips to complete my battledress.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

    Erwin

Irish guards have their own unique pip, I'll try to find a pic. Is this for the uniforms that sold on ebay yesterday?

        Infantry is red.
        armoured is yellow.
        rifle brigade is green.

3th Battalion Irish Guards should have red pips.

Show the uniform to a advanced collector from British stuf Edwin. If you sew the pips on a original mounted uniform you wil regret it forever.

          Thanks Jeroen

Don't worry i won't sew anything on this battledress. According to the seller it has traces of four missing brass metal rank pips. I have to receive the battledress to see what exactly the traces are. I thought there might be a difference in the brass metal pips. Perhaps each unit or branche does have is own type of pips.

          regards

Guards never wore woven pips, even on battledress. The correct ones should be metal, pic to follow.

I might add that only bronze coloured stars were normally worn on Guards officer BD blouses as well, although there may have been individual exceptions.
The polished gilt or brass were for service dress tunics.

                  Hello CB

Thanks for your reply and help. If somebody has an example of how it looks it would be great. Here are some pictures of the battledress. I believe it is named too.

                  best regards
