    Mystery Ribbon

I'm am a complete noob with english medals and ribbons. I've researched this set and have identified all but the last ribbon. The ribbons are as follows:

    MBE-military
    WSM 1914-1920
    VM 1914-1918
    DM
    WM 1939-1945
    CM 1937
    CM 1953

And finally the mystery medal. It looks like a WW1 US Mexican Border Service medal.

The closest Regimental ribbon I could find is the Cameron Highlanders..

The arrangement of the ribbons seem to follow precedence but does the group make sense? And what of the last ribbon?

    Please help!

Efficiency Decoration. The ribbon is slightly wider, and as it appears to be on an officer's SD tunic...? I don't understand why you had so much trouble ID'ing this relatively common ribbon.

I thought the Efficiency Medal was Yellow with Green stripes rather than Green with a yellow stripe. As I said, I am new to British collecting.

        Thanks for setting me straight.

The medals and decorations are entirely seperate awards - the latter being for officers. The decorations are gazetted and the recipients have usage of post-nominal letters.

The Territorial Force Efficiency Medal (1908-21) uses a similar ribbon to the decorations, albeit slightly narrower. The ribbon on the TFEM changed in 1919 to one of green with yellow edges. This pattern continued to be used on two subsequent issues: the Territorial Efficiency Medal (1921-30) and the Efficiency Medal (1930-). The ribbon was changed for UK awards in 1968 when blue was added to reflect the absorbtion of the Army Emergency Reserve in to the newly created T&AVR (1968-82). The Efficiency Medal became defunct in the UK in 1999, though it is still awarded in the few remaining realms that utilise the imperial awards system.

The Territorial Decoration (1908-30) and Efficiency Decoration utilised the same ribbon until 1968 (see above).

All the above are long service awards. The Territorial Force War Medal (yellow with two green stripes) is a campaign medal for the Great War and not a long service award. I agree it can be quite confusing to the uninitiated.
