    Parts of WWII Parachute?

    Hello Guys,

some time ago, I found this items near Berlin, Germany. In this area I found parts of a Lancaster too. My ask is now, this are parts of a british parachute perhaps? Sorry for my english please.

    Hi Digger
I think they are parts from British gas mask bags, I don't know though if British aircraft/aircrew would have carried them ?
    Regards
    Gary
PS I've attached a photo of a couple of mine.

        Gas Mask

Yeap these are off the early war (Pre October 1943) gas mask bag.

Wonder what they are doing in Berlin, these weren't carried by aircrew! Possibly captured from the BEF and in North Africa?

Thats possible, indeed. Or from Dunkerque. The german "Luftschutz", the Air Protect, used many captured items, like helmets etc. But I only found the metal pieces of the bag, no traces from mask.

Looking at the amount of clips you've got what piece of Luftschutz kit takes 6 people to operate

Certainly from British Resi. haversacks. They appear from the pics. to have a layer of soot, or is it just dark earth? If it is soot then I'd hazzard a guess that the haversacks had been flung on a fire to dispose of them or to retrieve the brass. Were there any British units in the area you found them at any point after W.W.2?

One of the above is also found on the shell dressing bag.

The parts was found in the russian zone, no british units fighting there. I think now, that is from the gas mask bag like Gary shows us. All kind of parts I can see on Garys pic.
