    PPCLI SD Canadian WW2?

Hello all, can anyone tell me if this is WW2 or 1946-53? Told all WW2 except for the buttons which are post war stay bright. No lable date readable. Told that after WW2 Soldiers replaced the SD buttons for the stay bright when they came available. True?

I did seach forum threads and saw several SD tunics. Look the same except for pleated breast pockets?

    Thanks

                tunic

With the shoulder strap buttons being brass, my guess is that the "stay brite" buttons relaced original brass ones. Nice tunic.

That would make it post-1945, then?

To my knowledge Staybrite was introduced into the British Army in 1950, I imagine Commonwealth forces would be about the same. The Regt I served in started issuing them in 1963 but us old sweats refused to wear them. The young sprogs thought they were great - no polishing, but found that they were easily scratched (you could do it with a thumbnail) leaving black lines.

All the other badges etc [not counting the stay brite] and design of SD WW2 or after?

In 1942 an "austerity" pattern officer's SD was introduced to save material. This is when the pockets lost their pleats. After the war the "austerity" pattern SD was discontinued. So, it would appear that this is definitly a wartime tunic. Hope this helps.
