Proper airplane specialist required

I have had this piece of what looks like an airplane instrument in my collection for years.
Does anybody know what type of aircraft or instrument it is from.
My congradulations in advance to whoever can figure out where this little piece of metal came from

Well it is early days on this.

But me thinks it is US and it is an indicator for a "Trim Wheel" for something.

Not sure what though. Will have to look though a number of books to see what it could be.
