No offence taken at all, chum, and I do totally agree that having medals reissued in no way denegrates the man's service...but it does affect the perceived value of the medals.
Another variable that affects value is condition. Although most collectors don't consider condition the most important aspect, it can play into the evaluation process. Personally, unless a medal is seriously mangled and broken I am not too fussed if it's been banged around a bit. As long as it's genuine, and properly named, I am honoured to be the temporary custodian.
