    Mary Tin with contents, RFC???

I've had this for around 25 years. I hope that the consensus isn't that the name has been added to increase value/interest. Any help on the original owner would be helpful. Thanks Dexter

    It is a super example.

You could try and research the man via the National Archives.

There will be the medal roll index and the service records. I did a bit of a search:

      Pencil

What a beauty,in its original cardboard wrapper too. I believe that a small pencil in the guise of a bullet was also in the tins,is this still there? Fantastic piece

Hi this is the first tin I have seen with it's outer wrapper and would have had a xmas card a lighter and a pipe, the pipes I believe were sent seperately.the lighters were a piece of string with a srike attachement I believe allthough I have only seen a picture of one.The writing looks to be period I have one with a name scratched on it to the Isle of Wight Rifles and another with all its bits except for the lighter and now I see it's outer box.The bullet pencils were for a tin with writing materials for non smokers. A really nice box well done.Regards Roger

Wow! You have a real gem there, cigarettes and all! Exceptionaly rare! From the aging of the ink, I see no reason why the writing isn't 100% original. Well done!

Many thanks, this has always been one of my favorite pieces. I've seen the pencil/bullet but one did not come with this set. I've never wanted to add something that wasn't there but someday maybe the pencil and pipe will come my way. There was a guy on ebay who was selling the cigarettes and getting about $20 a piece if I remember right.

Ade thanks for the link, good collecting Dexter
