    RCAF wedge cap

Hello, just bought this item, need some info please. IS this an officer pilot cap? Officers had peek crusher caps. Could this be also 1946-53?

I was told WW2 Pilot Officer garrison cap. Cap is navy blue.

    Thanks for any info.

Well, it's really more of a mid blue than navy blue which is much closer to black but I digress. I would like to see the inside of the cap before passing final judgement, but yes, officers in the RCAF wore this style of cap which included pilots.

Inside shots. Silk lined. WW2 or 1946-53?

      Thanks

Without knowing more about the maker, I think you could safely call this a WW2 cap.

        Cheers, Ade.

In all honesty, this cap could very well be anywhere between wartime and the early 50's like you ask, it's hard to pinpoint, as stores from the second world war were still being issued postwar until depleted. Not much changed in the way of uniforms, the buttons on the front suggest to me that they are of wartime manufacture, as postwar manufactured buttons had a raised rim around the outer edge. This was also the wartime address of Muir, as their firm changed locations well after world war two.

I agree! The only thing that tell you if is WWII or post is the shape of the crown, that changes in 1952 with Elisabeth II. Your on the overseas have the design of the WWII crown, but it will arrive to 1952 without changes...

            Cheers!

Great full shot of Bader in the o/s cap....Not too often you see a groupie wearing one! They liked to show off the "egg on their hats"
