Hi Owen,

I'm afraid I don't have many pictures of windys at all. I have a few and will trawl through my archives to find them, I'm afraid they may not be sets though.

As far as period shots go; If you do a search on here I believe several have been posted In the past. Can't remember If I've ever seen a pic of the pixie In wear which sort of points to me having not as I suspect I would have stolen the image .

The one and only picture of pixie suit in windproof material in actual use I have ever seen dates from the Korean War, worn by a trooper of the 8th Hussars.

Guys ,
I pulled some of my after the battles last night and did find some Holland shots , but very small and grainy .
So the pixie came post war in cammo !!
My one is in the heavy weight fabric , but I just got a pair of heavy-weight pants dated 43 made by John Gordon .
Before this I have always found them along with smocks with later dates in the 1950s ect .
So I presumed always post war .
Anyone also seen this happen ?

Windrpoof camouflage suits continued in production post-war and were still in use with some units, notably elements of the Parachute Regiment into the late 1980's/early 90's so Post-war dated items turn up. Obviously if a Q.M. stores had a stack of smocks and trousers on their shelves they didn't much care what the date of manufacture was when they were handing them out so wartime and post-war manufacture get mixed up in use aswell as collectors/dealers making suits up. All I have seen have been made in fairly close weave lightweight cotton for use as wondrpoof/oversuits, though the weight and quality of material does seem to vary slightly. What type of material exactly are the 'heavweight' trousers you mention?

The camo tank suit was produced during the war but I've personally never seen in actually being used before the end of hostilities in Europe, just Post-war. They were as AFAIK always made as per the winter 'tank suit', wool lined with medium/heavyweight cotton outers, I've not seen a camouflage version in denim or lighter weight material.

The lightweight we both know is a high quality poplin material .
The heavyweight is thicker , more denm , rough to the feel similar to the pixie -tankers fabric .
I have untill last weekend only seen post war smocks and pants in this fabric .
That is whyI was suprised to find a pair of size 3 1943 in this fabric .
