ww1 ww2 helmet

came across this lid with seconds to go on ebay , i saw the pics of helmet and liner and thought it was ww1 so bid and won,only after it ended did i read the description saying its date stamped 1940 i didnt think they made lids with these liners in in 1940 EC & CO, rgds Dave

Dave I thought you meant the liner was dated 1940 . This is definitely odd perhaps it belonged to an old ww1 vet who joined the Home guard and didnt like the new fangled liner so he put his old liner in instead . Rob

It is a WWI Mk.1. Maybe the seller made a mistake in the description?
