WW II British Field Rations Crate

Does anyone own an original WW II British Field Rations crate? If yes, could you please post a picture of it.

Were these crates natural wood color with black stenciling?

There are several types, depending on contents, plain wood with black or possibly dark blue lettering, see Bouchery book, Vol1, p123

      Thanks Old Smelly.

Were any of the crates made in the UK during the war?

Are most of the crates marked with the contents?

Country of origin might depend on contents, there was a factory in Bristol that packed rations, I will try to post a picture from their book.

Here is my Compo rations box. I found this myself at the side of the river Waal near Nijmegen a few years ago now. I only have the one picture as it is packed away.

              Cheers, Ade.
