Postwar Sniper Veil ?

Hi, attached photo shows an item I picked up at the weekend, went to the local carboot sale, a chap there was selling two bags of modern camoflage netting, bought both bags, went home and while taken the nets out of the bags to fold them up, I found a small bag inside with MOD scarves and the mystery item shown. Is it a sniper veil ? it's large enough to go over the head, has a MOD label, dating it to 1966, any ideas anybody ?

thanks for your reply, as you can see from the second photo, the size of the holes would not stop many insects from biting you, I'm glad the later ones had smaller holes.
