    Book about British uniforms?

    Hi,

What would be a good reference book(s) regarding WW2 era British uniforms and gear?

Any recommended books available with color "re-enacted" pictures, ie. "old stuff" photographed while worn "today"?

    Thanks,
    Miikka

Brayley and Ingram have published excellent books with colour pictures.

I have the book already mentioned, but , in my opinion, the best, most comprehensive source is " British Army Uniforms and Insignia of World War II", by Brian L. Davis. It has only 4 color pages, but hundreds of contemporary photos of uniforms, headgear, equipment, and insignia in wear.
The book dates from the early 1980's; I don't know if it's still in print, but ABE Books has copies for sale.

The Davis book is very good. I also really like the series of books done by Jean Bouchery.

Yes, the two done by Bouchery on the British Army post D-Day are very good.

In the UK, I would try Q&C Militaria; he has a website, also a site called the Bygone Arcade, which connects you to a number of militaria dealers. In the USA, Mess Dress Militaria has a site, but his prices are VERY high.

                          Get

Get the Davis Book ... it's a cornerstone for reference to British Army uniforms of WW2.
