Thought I'd like to post a few pictures of a insignia grouping I recently acquired supposedly from the same man who served in the RE. No other information on him at this time. Couple of nice pieces in the grouping.

Hi Garth,
What are they exactly ? I know there are three jump qualification badges but the Major crowns are they Greek ?
Are the last two cadet badges, army cadet marksman man and a 'class' ( I was in the air cadets which I bloody hated we I think had three classes, basic, leading & senior) cadet badge.
The reason I ask is that marksman, skill at arm's, instructors etc are crossed rifles and the cadet badge 20 years ago for me was a single rifle, just like that on blue backing.
Kind regards,
Marcus

The two badges with the crowns are the insignia of the British Military Liaison Mission to Greece immediatly after the war. The wings are interesting local made variations. I believe the red four pointed star is for the 6th Infantry Division and the single rifle badge is a Marksman insignia. The grouping supposedly came from a RE officer's estate. A ribbon bar with Defence medal, Italy Star and IGS 36-39 came with this grouping also.
Best regards,
Garth

Hi Garth,
Those jump badges are gold dust to cloth collectors and the Major tab's I've never seen anything like them before, desirable yet again ! To say the least.
I'm sure though the single rifle is cadet and not regular army, it's always two crossed rifles brass or cloth.
The red 'star' patch looks just like one on believe it or not a thread on this page I've seen concerned with a cadet uniform ! But as you say it's an almost a spitting image of the 6th, but rather than being cut around the star like yours it would I imagine be backed on a square ?
Keep hold of those wing's, they I notice are getting very pricey.
Kind regards,
Marcus
These are my actual ones from the army days, strange for a medic eh! I had two sets, one for my No 2's and one for my NATO jumper exactly the same. Other crossed variations exist in todays army also (No 1's badge 100 shot etc)
Dad has given me his from the forties as well they are brass, he was in the airforce. He calls it the musketry badge and instructors were musketry instructors.

Garth,
What great pieces! I am especially in awe over the Greek Major's rank devices affixed to the pocket hangers. I am assuming that your veteran was an observer for the Greek elections? WOW!
Those pocket hangers remind me of the pocket hangers worn by American officers during Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm with the Suadi army rank insignias.
I was probably the only 1st lieutenant that had one of these, as I worked as an advisor to the Saudis.

I wouldn't want to sell one of the MLM to Greece formation badges but would be willing to consider a trade for cloth insignia I need for my collection. Email me gtkt@bellsouth.net
