1st pattern FS "Commando" dagger for sale on E Bay

Hi Guys, I thought that I would add this thread as I know a few of you are interested in fighting knives? The 1st pattern Fairburn-Sykes "Commando dagger" is a hard item to find. Here is one being sold on E Bay. The price reflects the condition which, to be honest, is poor. These knives often have blades that have been sharpened badly. And this one is lacking the scabbard too. But it will be interesting to see what it makes?

    Cheers, Ade.

    Ade,
Thanks for the heads up on the F-S. This is a very scarice item these days.
Too bad the blade has been reshaped.

        Hi Guys,

Here is a 1st pattern F-S with the 3" cross guard. This is an extremely
rare knife with only 100 or so being made.

I first noticed this yesterday. The price was $510 now it's $2200
and there are still 8 days to go I've always wanted one but not
        that bad

Hi Greg, me too, but the price is to high for me as well. I am slighty concerned about the private auction status and how he is not a collector, but knows all the terminology? I see there is a five day inspection though.

I have never handled one of these knives, but I have heard of perfectly original knives that have had new 3 inch crossguards added to them

          Cheers, Ade.

I agree 100%. My first thought when I saw private status was that there
is something wrong with this knife. Because these knives are so simply
put together, it would be real easy to change crossguards.

Hi Guys, I see the knife that started this thread made an incredible $820.
I personally thought it was worth far less than that, given the condition and lack of scabbard.
              Cheers, Ade.
