Boer War slouch caps

Thought I would post a couple of Boer War era slouch caps that I have had for some time. They were brothers -- but thanks to a recent ebay purchase, I have upgraded them to twins!

First a late Victorian drawing of the slouch hat subject matter -- the Imperial Yeomanry.

Here is the first up: a complete Wiltshire Imperial Yeomanry slouch cap with grossgrain silk rosette, and original IY and Prince of Wales feathers.

Other perspectives of the hat -- a bit of mothing and some holes, but not too bad considering it is over 100 years old.

The sweatband is intact, though lightly used. Chinstrap is intact.

Next up is a cap that is a Boer War era cap -- nicer than the first posted. Alas, it had no badge -- though it had evidence of many!

I love the details on this one -- the venting ontop is really cool. Note the asymmetry of the hat: shorter at front than sides and back. Also note the presence of the female (but not male!) snaps on both sides.

Best part of this cap is the sweatband -- very posh and complete with chinstrap!

... the best part is it is dated 1901 and maker marked!

But still no badge -- how sad.
Well, enter a recent ebay offering that I jumped on and won.
That's right -- another Wiltshire IM rosette and badges!

And voila! Another (sort of) Wiltshire IY hat!
